Golf
"The pendulum has swung back to classic golf-course design. People today are trying to build golf courses like Mid Pines. But we have the original." – Chip King, PGA, General Manager and Director of Golf at Mid Pines
In our fast-paced world, we've come to value traditions that reach out to touch the past. That's why Mid Pines is so special and rare among golf clubs. It has 18 holes that are in exactly the same positions with the same numbers as when the course opened in 1921.
That doesn't mean that the layout of the course has been neglected or overlooked. When the current owners took over the property in the mid-1990s, an effort was made to polish this classic gem: Tees were leveled, a pond was rebuilt and cleaned up. Irrigation and drainage were improved. Grass now glows with emerald luxuriance along the fairways.
Accommodations
Built in 1921, the Mid Pines Inn presents a wonderful balance of old-time charm and modern amenities in its 112-room Georgian-style inn sitting atop a knoll overlooking the 18th hole. The recently renovated building offers fine dining, wood-paneled reading rooms graced by vintage photographs and rooms with modern conveniences.
Mid Pines also offers several villas with kitchenettes that sit along the 10th fairway and are perfect for groups of golfers, families enjoying reunions or small business meetings.
