The Murcar Championship golf links has a par of 71 and a standard scratch rating of 72 (USGA rating 71.6 and USGA slope rating 136). Murcar frequently features in the Top 100 courses in the UK and is in the VisitScotland top 40 Great Scottish Links Collection. The testing Murcar links is also a favorite for hosting national amateur championships and professional tournaments alike. In 2005, its reputation is such that Murcar played host to: the Scottish Boys Matchplay Championships, pre-tournament qualifying for the Senior British Open and the Grampian/Houston Pro Am. Established in 1909 to the design of Archie Simpson, with later refinements made by the celebrated golf course designer James Braid, Murcar is indeed a Championship links of some renown, in the finest of Scottish traditions. Located between Cruden Bay and Royal Aberdeen, it is a course not to be missed if in the Aberdeen and Grampian area of Scotland.
