Australia – Barnbougle
Way "down under" in the small Tasmanian fishing village of Bridport, you’ll find two of the most astonishing courses in the World - links golf at it's finest.
(Ranking - #11 World and #4 in Australia)
"I am so lucky to have played such a brilliant course." said Geoff Slattery of Golf Victoria. The course was built on towering coastal dunes and will test the strongest players, yet it is fair enough for the average player. Steve Keipert, Australian Golf Digest in January 2005 said “it is difficult to imagine a player of any handicap not enjoying the Barnbougle Dunes experience".
Designed by Tom Doak in collaboration with Aussie Michael Clayton, this championship layout from the back tees is 6,762 yards and is all about strategy rather than the long ball.
Barnbougle Lost Farms
(Ranking - #23 World and #6 Australia)
A Coore & Crenshaw design, the Lost Farms course gets its name from a flat central paddock on the site, a place where farmers would find missing cattle sheltering from the elements. The course just opened in 2010, and is already gaining recognition from golfers around the world. This diverse course is unlike any course - a par 78 with 20 holes. Barnbougle Lost Farms offers a variety of play with the fairways rolling both along the coast and inland. The minimalistic design complements the natural terra firma rewarding strategic and traditional golf. The course offers wide fairways leading to some of the toughest greens in Australia. On a site just across the river from sister Barnbougle Dunes (No. 11), with taller dunes but fewer of them.
